What is the minimum age to get a tattoo in Florida?

In Florida, minors under 16 cannot be tattooed (except for medical or dental reasons by a licensed professional). Ages 16 to 17 only with a parent or legal guardian present and notarized consent. In my studio, I only work with clients 18 and older.

2Minors: what Florida law says

Florida regulates tattooing minors by law (Florida Statute 381.00787). For teens aged 16 and 17, the law requires strict conditions:

Ages 16–17

Only allowed if: the minor is accompanied by their parent or legal guardian; both present government photo ID; the parent or guardian provides written notarized consent in the department's required format and proves guardianship; and the work is done by a licensed tattoo artist.

Tattooing a minor outside these rules is a second-degree misdemeanor in Florida.

👉 My policy: even though the law allows the 16–17 range with notarized consent, my studio works with clients 18 and older only. It's what I choose out of responsibility and respect for your skin.
